A Successful Glorious Junk Days

The name “Glorious Junk Days” might bring to mind a bevy of used clothing, broken furniture and chipped glassware, but in Old Town Clovis “Glorious Junk” means something a whole lot classier! Our first ever Glorious Junk Days was held on Sunday, May 27th, 2012. We invited antiques dealers, and others, to come out and sell their vintage flea market finds, handcrafted and repurposed treasures, architectural salvage and collectible items. With over 90 spaces filled the streets were packed with wonderful finds.

Unlike our March Antiques & Collectibles Fair, the weather was perfect for the event. Crowds came early and stayed late, hoping to scoop up the best deals. While some antique folks found the name “Glorious Junk Days” distasteful, most of the merchants and visitors were charmed. Sales were fantastic and Wanda Leon, Owner of Fifth Street Antiques, noted that she had to refill her spaces four times to keep up with the demand!! At the B.O.O.T. information booth we even had a request to have the event every month!

Repurposing Antiques Clovis

Kathy Osterberg-Sobelman was on hand to provide free appraisals throughout the day. Kathy was a wealth of knowledge, appraising such things as Native American jewelry, German Beer Steins, comic books and Easter decorations! Many people forgot to bring their items for appraisal but were able to either run home and bring it back, or describe the item to Kathy. One heart in particular was broken when they found out their “autographed” Beatles album was a reproduction!

Our next Glorious Junk Days will be held on Sunday, October 21st, 2012 and our next Antiques & Collectibles Fair will be held on Sunday, September 30th, 2012. Spaces are filling up quickly so if you’re interested in selling your wares let the B.O.O.T. office know as soon as possible!
