Black Pot Cooks Needed in Old Town

Welcome to all Black Pot Cooks! We have ‘married’ our Black Pot Cook Off to the Old Town Clovis Craft Beer Crawl this year and anticipate a lot more people coming to the event and learning about cooking in Dutch ovens. This event will happen on Sunday, April 19, 2015.

Below you will the Application, Rules of the Cook-off, Terms & Conditions and a Hold Harmless Agreement for participants.

We have reserved the block of Pollasky between 4th and 5th Streets to accommodate cooking teams, food vendors and musicians. The Cook-off will take place between Noon and 5PM, with set up beginning at 10 AM and tear down no later than 7PM.

Registered cooking teams may bring their equipment in by car/truck between 10AM and 11AM (based on the time needed to start the fire). We ask that teams drive up, drop things off in assigned spaces and remove vehicle(s) from the street to one of the convenient parking lots nearby.

We will have a Cook’s Meeting at 10 AM to go over the rules, answer any questions and review fire safety and food handling requirements. Judging will take place by Cooking Teams drawing numbers for the order in which they’ll present their dish(es). Cooking start times depend on how much time each dish takes. Judging of the food will be completed by 4PM. All equipment and camp area need to be removed and “broom” clean no later than 7PM.

We welcome first time cooks! This is a fun event with easy to follow rules – we just want you to have a good time! Some restrictions apply so please be sure to read the attachments. Final instructions will be provided at the Cooks Meeting prior to the event.
