Christmas Shopping in Old Town Clovis
November 14, 2011 | Categories: Holiday Happenings |
Looking for a nice holiday experience? Maybe one you can actually enjoy? Want to get away from malls, box stores and just park your car, walk to a store, find the perfect gift for the people on your list, experience a relaxed atmosphere—complete with Christmas music and free horse-drawn carriage rides? You’re in luck! Come to Old Town Clovis and step back in time in historic, quaint Old Town while getting your shopping done!
Do you notice that when you go shopping for others that’s when you find things you want for yourself? Need a Christmas sweater (yes, they still are fashionable and fun!) Barbra’s Fashion’s on 4th Street has them! Need to spruce up your Thanksgiving or Christmas tables? Hollyhock’s and Hearts Delight has great tableware . . . need your jewelry cleaned so they sparkle? Jackson Jewelry is the place to go and you can drop hints to your family about the item of your desire you found while you were in the store! Is your dishwasher on it’s last leg? Clovis Appliance is the local alternative to the box stores and they have competitive prices and delivery . . .and you will feel good about “buying local!”
In keeping with “recycle, reclaim, repurpose” you might consider Old Town’s antique stores for that special purchase. Starting a collection of colored glass for a loved one? You can find great deals and finds in more than 10 antique stores all within two blocks! Do you know of a book out of print? We have two fantastic book stores in Old Town – A Book Barn and The Bookworm.
Need a quick pick me up? Coffee is available at several stops on Pollasky . . . restaurants throughout town are ready to give you the sustenance you need to get through the holidays. It should be noted that none are “chains” . . so check out 500 Club, Bobby Salazar’s, Corner Cafe’, DiCicco’s, Forestierre’s, Salsa’s, Scoops, Soups & More, Victoria Rose Restaurant/Cottage . . these restaurants are all members of the Business Organization of Old Town.
Catch a football game at Old Town Saloon, a glass of wine at Water 2 Wine and get your Christmas tree at the Tree Lot . . located at the old DMV lot, Pollasky and Bullard; bring the kids to the ice skating rink, which will be up and running soon!
Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season . . . remember to shop local as it is how small communities thrive.
