The City of Clovis will turn 100 years old on February 25, 2012. For the most part, time has been kind to this special place that proudly bears the name of Clovis Cole. However in the entire history of Clovis there is one glaring omission that has never been addressed by town leaders. Clovis has never had a Constable.
The Clovis Centennial Committee made up of volunteers and well wishers have banded together to correct this oversight and they are planning a celebration appropriate for such a century mark.
Any group that is a non-profit can nominate a candidate for Constable. Each candidate has a mission to encourage the public to vote in his favor. The methodology is very simple. One dollar equals one vote.
Every organization is encouraged to join in the campaigning because fifty percent of the funds raised will stay with the nominating organization. The other fifty per cent will be used by the Centennial Foundation for events.
Voting ends on December 1, 2011. The campaign is underway and the competition is fierce! Our candidate needs your support.
All constable nominees are expected to follow a strict list of campaign guidelines, including but not limited to, fierce campaigning, mud slinging, kissing babies, making back room deals with special interest groups, demanding reform without taking blame for anything. Essentially, a successful candidate will have to do whatever it takes to win.
The candidate with the most votes (or hanging chads) will be crowned as Constable on December 1, 2011 and will preside over all Centennial Events in 2012.
So, get on down to Scoops, Soups & More to support B.O.O.T.’s candidate Wyld Bil Shipley! Your vote/donation will go a long way to help promote the OTC and you get a cookie in return for every vote! Thank you to Patiane Shinizu for the great cookies she’s made for Wyld Bill (and for all of our causes this past year—she takes orders for custom cookies as well and can be reached at 559.298.3315).
B.O.O.T. is just one of several organizations participating in this “tongue in cheek” contest and we realize that many of you are connected to other groups as well. So vote and vote often for all those you support and may the best man win (it should be pointed out that women can for the job but there are no women in the contest!)
Please Support our Candidate for Constable!!
