Squaw Valley Herb Garden

Whether you live in Clovis, or you are here visiting, there are many wonderful day trips you can take around the Central Valley.  One of our favorite day trip destinations is Squaw Valley Herb Garden.

Squaw Valley Herb Garden was established in 1984 by artists, Rosemary Nightingale and Tim Friesen through their  love of rustic outdoor living. Their inspiring art can be seen throughout the gardens and in their gift shop. Rosemary lectures locally and at the San Francisco-Seattle Flower & Garden Shows. Their private gardens were featured on PBS ‘California Heartland’, HGTV’s ‘Gardening by the Yard’, ‘Hey Kids, Let’s Cook’, the ‘Herb Quarterly’ and ‘Homestead’ magazine.

In the Garden you’ll find a meadow, creek, and clusters of oak trees surrounding herb gardens, a potting shed, small nursery, and gift shop – all looking out on a stunning view of the Sierra. Our favorite part would be the lavender fields growing over 12 fragrant varieties.  Due to the drought this year there will only be tours in April, May and June, closing after the lavender harvest in June.

Visitors can discover the “legends of lavender” as you relax and sooth your senses!  Learn how to grow, harvest and use lavender.  You can even savor a delicious, organic herb and lavender inspired vegetarian lunch.  For more information about the Squaw Valley Herb Garden visit their web site directly.
