Spring Antiques & Collectibles Fair

The spring Antiques & Collectibles Fair is all set for March 30th! We have some new dealers and of course, our regulars coming to Old Town and we look forward to a beautiful day with lots of treasures. Rain or shine the show will go on!

This is the first of four of this type of show we will host in Old Town this year. Two are Antiques and Collectibles (March 30 & September 28) and two are “Glorious Junk Days” (May 25 & October 19) . . . .the guidelines for Glorious Junk Days are more “relaxed” as we accept dealers with flea market finds, repurposed items, “shabby chic” and newer items than the traditional Antiques & Collectibles Fairs. The price for all four shows is the same: $80 for a small booth, $105 for a large space. Application forms can be found on our website.

In addition to hours of shopping, our food vendors will be there to serve you! We’ll have something for everyone . . . hamburgers & corndogs, pizza, Mexican food, tri-tip sandwiches, kettle corn and shave ice! Many of Old Town’s stores and restaurants will be open as well.

One of the best features of this event is the free appraisals offered by Kathy Osterberg-Sobelman starting at 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 3pm. Kathy is located in the Information Booth, located near 433 Pollasky Avenue. Bring your one item for a free appraisal! This is a great opportunity to have an item you value checked out to see if it has “worth” beyond a sentimental value! Kathy is a walking encyclopedia and she will tell you the history of your item. Don’t miss this great experience!

Fall 2013 Glorious Junk Days

This Sunday, October 20, 2013, from 8am to 4pm, Old Town Clovis will be holding their biggest Glorious Junk Days ever, with over 150 vendors!

We have had such a huge response to Glorious Junk Days that we had to expand our regular map, adding over 30 spaces to our normal footprint. We have many returning vendors, but a great portion of the vendors are brand new. Antiques and collectibles will be present, but Glorious Junk Days also incorporates vintage treasures, shabby chic, repurposed and recycled furniture, architectural salvage and handcrafted items.

Vicki Shoemaker from 3 Oaks Studios will be on Pollasky in front of the Educational Employees Credit Union doing Annie Sloan Chalk Paid demonstrations. Vicki is a creative force in Old Town, and we are so grateful that she takes time from her busy shop to demonstrate how to turn old junk into beautiful treasures!

Kathy Osterberg Sobelman will be on had to provide appraisals from 9 to 11 am, and from 1 to 3 pm. Please limit your requests to just one item per person. At the Antiques & Collectibles show in September we had lines 40 people deep waiting for appraisals. Kathy is available to come out to your homes, for a fee, to appraise additional items.

The next Glorious Junk Days will be held on May 25th, 2014. If you like what you see and want to be a vendor for that show please contact Kirsty Wimbish at (559) 298-5774 early to get a premium space!

Reminder that the Old Town Clovis Antiques and Collectibles Fair is right around the corner! The deadline for spaces is September 1st so be sure to get your application in soon! This event draws Antiques Vendors from all around the State of California – all who bring a great variety of beautiful and interesting antiques. Wanda Leon of Fifth Street Antiques has been traveling across the country this summer visiting “The World’s Longest Yard Sale” (690 miles of yard sales from Michigan to Alabama!) and we are positive she’ll have some of those finds out in front of her store come the end of September!

Glorious “Junk” and Treasure Hunting in Old Town

by
gjd jewels

Plans are well underway for Old Town Clovis’ “Glorious Junk Days,” to be held on Sunday, October 21, 2012.  This will be the second show of its kind this year and spaces are filling up quickly.

Glorious Junk Days was created to showcase items not normally seen at our regular Antiques & Collectibles Fairs, which limits what Vendors can bring.  Glorious Junk can include repurposed and refurbished items, DIY Projects, handcrafted items, shabby chic and architectural finds – as well as the antiques you’ve come to enjoy in Old Town.  Contact the B.O.O.T. office if you’d like an application, or download one on our web site at www.oldtownclovis.org.  Spaces are “first come, first served” and the event will go on, rain or shine!

For the Spring Glorious Junk Days we will be holding the first ever “Glorious Junk Hunters” at the May show!  This will be similar to BBC’s “Bargain Hunt” where teams are given a certain amount of money and set loose to find the best bargains at an Antique fair.

We’ll be posting more about the Glorious Hunt Hunters in the early spring of 2013.

Be in the Know – Antiques Fair

Rain, rain go away, but come right back the next day . . . . . that was our “song” for the Antiques & Collectibles Fair but the weatherman got it right. It rained all day!

In spite of rain and cold the OTC Antiques & Collectibles Fair was well attended by both dealers and buyers! Stores reported above average sales . . . a few said the best ever . . . . and dealers on the street did well. There were 88 dealers who signed up for the March Fair, the largest number we’ve ever had . . . .we checked in 50 but several left after it appeared the rain was not going to stop. Those who hung in there reaped the benefits!

Many folks are excited about the Glorious Junk Days coming up on May 27 and again on October 21. This event is more relaxed, more items can be sold that are not allowed at the Antiques & Collectibles Fair—-glorious junk, vintage flea market finds, antiques and collectibles, architectural salvage, hand crafted and repurposed treasures. We will be featuring DIY demonstrations at the Fair so don’t miss this fun event!

The next Antiques & Collectibles Fair will be held September 30.

Spring/Fall 2011

The Antique & Collectible Fair is one of our signature events. It takes place twice a year on the last Sunday of March and September. About 80 dealers sell their items on the streets of OTC and buyers come from all over to pick up bargains and treasures!

Old Town Clovis has 10 antique stores. Many of their customers are dealers in other areas and find our stores filled with great items at good prices. In fact, so good that they can make purchases in our shops and take items back to their antique stores and sell them for far more!

Join us in the spring and fall, and find your treasures! And remember the 4 R’s: Recycle, Reclaim, Reduce and Repurpose. Antique stores are a great place to fulfill this “green” goal.

Glorious Junk Days

Born out of the desire to have a 3rd antique fair, the Business Organization of Old Town hosted the first Glorious Junk Days on the Sunday of the Memorial Day Weekend. As a first event we didn’t expect a great turnout and we were surprised to see the streets fill with dealers and buyers eager to shop!

2012 will see two of these events, spring and fall. Dates TBA.
