The 2nd Annual Pistachio Party at the Old Town Clovis Farmers Market – September 28

The 2012 Farmers Market ends this Friday, September 28 with the American Pistachio Growers returning to host the 2nd Pistachio Party! We’ll go out with a bang – or actually a lot of crackling noise! The sound of tires driving over the discarded shells on the streets is quite amazing to listen to!

Join us for a great evening of food demonstrations by Institute of Technology (IOT) Chef David Pol and Chef Kyle Waller who will be demonstrating how to use pistachios in a variety of recipes, providing samples and handing out recipes cards. Thank you to American Pistachio Growers, our sponsor. You’ll find them at the intersection of 4th and Pollasky passing out samples and hosting three Gold Medalists from the USA Women’s Water Polo Team, who will be on hand to show off their gold medals and talk about their experiences in London this summer! Pistachios are the official snack of the USA Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Teams!

Mel Mason will be playing at the corner of 3rd and Pollasky and the Central Valley Chevrolet Club will be on hand with vintage Chevys to entertain the adults while pony rides, face painting, bounce house and the Twisted Twister slide will be on hand to delight the kids!

It will be a fun night tasting everything pistachio! Our vendors are coming up with great ideas to offer as food items at the event: Pistachio Dream (a pudding from Yosemite Concessions), a pistachio salad with pistachio salsa and dressing by Bobby Salazar’s; Victoria Rose is serving up Pistachio Brittle and Pistachio Double Cake; Cuz’n Babs is deep frying Pistachio Dunks and Cakes; Corner Café is preparing a Buttery Pistachio Brittle and Pistachio Baklava, and Sweetie’s Candy will make your teeth stick together with an “Appleachio”. You’ll also find Scoops, Soups and More serving up Pistachio ice cream as well as Peach Cobbler with a Pistachio Crumble Top and a Pistachio Braided Bread.

During the Pistachio Party KSKS Country will be throwing the first Pink Heels Stiletto Race on Pollasky between Bullard and 5th Street. So grab those stilettos and show up to register at the old DMV Parking Lot or online at www.ksks.com proceeds benefit our local Chapter of Pink Heals.
